Fishing ban to help boost river population

Young fish are fed into Xiangjiang River in Changsha, capital of Central China's Hunan province, on April 1, 2013. The province imposed its first fishing ban on the river after protection measures were introduced there last September. The proposed annual ban, effective from April 1 to June 30, aims to boost falling fish population and protect the local ecosystem. Fishing authorities released 5 million young fish, including some on the country's protection list, into the river on Monday. [Photo/Xinhua]
