CHENGDU - A total of 292 children in Ziyang city, Southwest China's Sichuan Province, were sent to hospital after eating contaminated food in their school canteen.
Local authorities said on Monday that the students from Yingjie Township Central Elementary School started to show diarrhea symptoms, including fever and vomiting on Saturday.
By Monday morning, 143 students had left hospital after health checks proved they had recovered. None of the remaining children in hospital are critically ill.
The school canteen has been disinfected, and local authorities have vowed to find out who is responsible for the food contamination incident.
