Beijing police detained more than 1,000 people for drugs offenses between January and March.
According to the public security bureau, officers have tackled more than 260 drugs cases in the past three months and seized more than 30 kg of narcotics.
On March 12, police in Dongcheng and Xicheng districts detained a gang of 15 and seized more than 15 kg of narcotics, the largest haul in the city for a decade, the bureau said.
Police say the principal suspect, a man surnamed Zheng from Hubei province, trafficked drugs from Guangdong province to other areas of China, including Beijing, in 2011.
Jiang Liangdong, Beijing's deputy director of public security, has led a series of investigations nationwide over almost 18 months.
The drugs seized mostly included heroin, marijuana and "ice", police said.
