Seven people, suspects in an attack on a member of the Dianbai County Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, have been detained for further investigation.
According to a press release from the Dianbai county public security bureau, six suspects, all male, were detained in a housing estate in Panyu district of the Guangdong provincial capital on Sunday as another male was detained in Dianbai's Shuidong township.
On April 10, Shao Zhencai, a member of Dianbai's advisory body, and his brother Shao Zhenfeng were shot at and stabbed by masked attackers when they returned home to sweep tombs in Dianbai's Diancheng township.
Shao Zhencai was seriously injured, with more than 200 pellet fragments in his knees, after a shotgun was fired.
Shao's brother also suffered from serious hand and leg injuries after he was stabbed by the attackers who escaped on four motorbikes.
The suspects have allegedly admitted their crime, police said.
According to police, the attack may be linked to a failed business bid.
