CHANGSHA - Six people died after a boat capsized in a river in Central China's Hunan province on Tuesday, local authorities confirmed Thursday.
On Thursday afternoon, rescuers retrieved the last two bodies of the five people reported missing in the Yuanjiang River in Yuanling county, the county government said in a statement.
The accident occurred Tuesday night, when a boat rented by a construction team overturned and all 12 people on board fell into the river. Six were rescued and the owner of the boat had drowned before being pulled out of the water. Five others were reported missing after the accident.
More than 300 people and 40 ships were involved in search and rescue operations.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
