FUZHOU - Health authorities in East China's Fujian province reported a new human infection of the H7N9 avian flu on Tuesday, bringing the total number of cases in the province to three.
A 58-year-old man surnamed Xu from the city of Fuzhou tested positive for the flu on Tuesday at the provincial center for disease control and prevention, according to a statement from the provincial health department.
Xu developed a fever and cough before seeking treatment at the Fujian Provincial Hospital on April 28. Xu was in critical condition, it said.
People who have had close contact with Xu are being monitored for flu symptoms.
