A woman was recently sentenced to a seven-month imprisonment with a one-year reprieve and fined 1,000 yuan ($163.13) for stealing a gold bracelet from her friend.
According to Pudong New Area People's Court, the jobless woman, 23, hired a locksmith to open the door so she could enter the friend's home to steal the jewelry on Feb 13.
She pawned the bracelet for 5,900 yuan and then paid back 2,000 yuan she owed to the same friend from which she stole the bracelet.
