The education department in Sichuan province released a draft regulation to raise the standards for establishing kindergartens.
The draft regulation was released on Wednesday to solicit public opinion. It gives specific requirements on the kindergarten's location, building standards, equipment and facilities. Class size and outdoor spaces are also specified in the rules.
It not only applies to new kindergartens but also to existing ones.
Under the rules, kindergartens that have already been approved should also try to meet the requirement within three years.
