GUIYANG - Three primary school students drowned and another is still missing after falling into a reservoir in Southwest China's Guizhou province on Thursday, local publicity authorities said.
The accident occurred around 4:45 pm in Panshui Township of Puan County, sources with the county's publicity department said.
All the children were students at Panshui No. 1 Primary School, the sources said.
As of 7:30 p., three bodies had been retrieved from the Dongfeng Reservoir, and search and rescue work for the missing student is ongoing.
Drowning cases are often reported at this time of the year, when Chinese students prepare for summer vacation.
In a separate incident, one child drowned in a pond on Thursday afternoon in Nanning, capital of south China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
