SHANGHAI - Four people died and three others were injured after a factory that was under construction collapsed Thursday afternoon in Shanghai, local authorities said.
The accident occurred around 5 pm in the Pudong New Area, work safety authorities said.
Witnesses said the building collapsed after a beam that was being lifted by a crane fell on the building.
Two people were killed at the scene, while another two died after medical treatment failed to save them. The three injured are being treated at a local hospital.
A further investigation into the cause of the accident is under way.
