The death of an 11-day-old newborn is being investigated by the local department of health after the parents questioned whether the baby was baked to death in the incubator due to the hospital’s mishandling, China News reported Wednesday.
The hospital responded shortly after the news attracted wide attention on social network Sino Weibo that the baby died from an infection.
The infant, born on July 6, was transferred to the intensive care unit as he showed signs of central nervous system dysfunction and myocardial damage, according to China News. He died on July 17, and his parents questioned whether the ICU incubator’s temperature was so high that the baby was roasted to death.
"We will make a thorough investigation and bring those responsible to justice," local health authority said in a statement.
