Beijing is launching a project to give 4,000 yuan to more than 1,000 freshmen students from disadvantaged families, Beijing Morning Post reports.
The "Sunshine Aid" project, initiated by the Beijing Youth Development Foundation and Beijing Donation Center of Project Hope, aims to ensure these students admitted by key universities “focus on their studies and live happily”.
The money will be raised through "1+1" social donation - one donor sponsoring one student. The funding standard is 4,000 yuan per student per year without any administrative fees.
