Driver arrested over deadly road accident

ZHENGZHOU -- A truck driver who fled the scene of a road accident that left 11 dead and 12 injured in Central China's Henan province has been arrested, local police said.
Zhang Nanxiang was arrested in the city of Zhoukou early Tuesday morning, less than a day after a heavy-duty truck he was driving was involved in a head-on collision with a mini-bus in Guangshan county, Xinyang city, the county public security bureau said in a statement.
The collision occurred at 3:59 pm Monday, killing five people on the spot. Another four died on the way to the hospital, and two others with severe injuries died later in the hospital.
The bodies of nine victims have been identified, according to the statement.
All of the casualties occurred on the 23-seat mini-bus, which had 23 people on board.
The bus owned by the No.3 Branch of the Xinyang Transport Co. was severely burned in a fire after the collision.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is under way.
