BEIJING - China Central Television (CCTV) opened its second sports channel on Sunday to broadcast games 24 hours a day.
The high-definition channel, CCTV 5+, will complement its predecessor, CCTV 5, with a wider coverage of games worldwide, including the on-going Athletics World Championships, Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati and 2013 FIVB women's World Grand Prix Finals, as well as the up-coming US Open and China's 12th National Games.
The move meets the changing demands of the audience and provides a new platform for the development of the sports industry, said Jiang Heping, head of the new channel.
