A national campaign against medical malpractice is underway, an official was quoted by the Mirror Evening News.
Xu Zhiren, director of the medical administration department under the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, said at a news conference on Aug 26 that the campaign is a joint effort of the administration and National Health and Family Planning Commission.
The campaign was launched amid frequent revelations of people who illegally practice medicine by claiming to be masters of traditional Chinese medical science.
Xu also said Wang Lin, a self-proclaimed qigong (Chinese breathing exercise) master, and Zhang Biqing, a self-proclaimed master of traditional Chinese medical science, are both unqualified for medical practice.
