Girl commits suicide after brother refuses to buy phone

A 17-year-old girl jumped to her death after her older brother refused to buy her an expensive mobile phone in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, on Wednesday, Guangzhou-based New Express Daily reported.
The victim surnamed Huang jumped off the 12th floor from her grandmother's home at 5:46 am on Wednesday, wearing her school uniform.
Huang who was a grade 3 senior high school student in Shenzhen, had reportedly previously asked her brother to buy her a new mobile phone valued at more than 5,000 yuan ($820), but he refused.
Huang quarreled with her brother over the phone again on Tuesday.
