Four farmers were killed in an explosion at about 8:40 pm on Wednesday in Kehu township, Linxian county, Shanxi province, Xinhua reported on Friday.

The explosion occurred in a house of a farmer surnamed Guo.

The farmers were rushed to hospital but died from their injuries.

Police are classifying the incident as homicide.

Police believe the incident involved an argument over land.

An investigation has started.
