Organizers of the upcoming Guangzhou Marathon said about 600 portable toilets will be available along the route to prevent runners from urinating in public.
The number of portable toilets during the Guangzhou Marathon, which will be held on Nov 23, will be twice the amount that was available during the Beijing Marathon on Sunday, organizers of the Guangzhou event said.
Photos of runners urinating in public during the competition in Beijing went viral on the Internet this week. Many blamed a lack of portable toilets for the issue.
Organizers of the Guangzhou event said a rest area, which will consist of toilets, drinking and medical services, will be set up every 2.5 kilometers during the event.
