NANJING -- An agent for Chinese film director Zhang Yimou and his wife has arrived in Wuxi City of east China's Jiangsu Province to answer accusations that the couple have violated China's one-child policy, the local family planning bureau said on Friday.
Earlier media reports said that Zhang and his current wife, Chen Ting, had three children, which would be a violation of the one-child family planning policy and would leave the couple facing huge fines.
Reports in the Southern Metropolis Entertainment Weekly also said Zhang has a total of seven children, one from an ex-wife, three from Chen and another three from two mistresses. The reports have not been confirmed by Zhang.
The family planning bureau of Binhu District of Wuxi City said it was investigating the case and will reveal the investigation results to the public.
