CHENGDU - Former top political advisor of Southwest China's Sichuan province, Li Chongxi, was expelled from the provincial political advisory body on Thursday for severe violations of discipline.
The standing committee of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) decided at a meeting to remove Li from his post of top provincial political advisor as well as his CPPCC member.
The Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection said in a statement on December 29 that Li, chairman of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPPCC, was investigated for suspected serious violations of discipline and law.
