A man who allegedly killed four people including a 3-year-old child was caught by police in Ziyang county, Shaanxi province, Huashang Daily reported on Monday.

The man, surnamed Xiang, 29, was angry to learn his girlfriend had been promised in marriage to another man and went to her home in Huayin, another county in the province, and killed the woman, her mother, elder sister and the elder sister's 3-year-old son in the early morning of March 12, the report said.

Xiang then returned to his hometown in Ziyang and hid in the mountains for three days until he was caught by police on the night of March 15.

The case is still under investigation.
