She Xianglin, a former security guard, was convicted of killing his wife on the basis of a "confession" in 1997. He was wrongfully jailed for 11 years until his wife reappeared alive in her hometown in 2005. He said he was forced to confess after being tortured and deprived of sleep during his interrogation which lasted ten days. She's case triggered wide criticism in the country about poor judicial practice.
