Premier Li Keqiang on Jan 27 met with Sofyan Djalil, Indonesia's presidential envoy and coordinating minister for economy, who was in Beijing to attend the first meeting of the China-Indonesia High-Level Economic Dialogue.
Premier Li spoke highly of the development of relations between China and Indonesia, stressing that the world is paying more attention to East Asia as the global economy goes through readjustment.
As China and Indonesia are both emerging economies with large populations, maintaining strategic mutual trust, strengthening high-level dialogue, and deepening mutually beneficial cooperation will not only help maintain regional peace but also create a better environment for both countries to develop, he said.
The Premier said he saw common ground in China's 21st Century Maritime Silk Road initiative and Indonesia's development strategy. Indonesia needs large-scale infrastructure while China has the capacity to provide high-quality infrastructure construction, he added.
With great potential for cooperation between the two countries, China is willing to work with Indonesia in manufacturing, helping Indonesia build factories and production lines, which will enable the country to build infrastructure and promote industrialization, the Premier said.
Sofyan Djalil said the new Indonesian administration attaches great importance to the development of China-Indonesia relations. Indonesia welcomes investment from Chinese enterprises and is willing to cooperate with China in infrastructure construction, he said, adding that Indonesia believes China’s technology and equipment can help Indonesia achieve further development.
State Councilor Yang Jiechi also attended the meeting.
