Seminar marks 40 years of China-EU ties

More than 100 representatives from European countries shared opinions and held discussions to enhance the relationship when the Chinese Academy of Governance (CAG) hosted a seminar to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral tie between China and the European Union on Tuesday.
Chen Li, CAG's deputy president, said China is the second largest trade partner of the EU that in return has been the largest trader with China for 10 consecutive years.
"China and the EU share the biggest trade volume on the planet. More than 5 million people travel between the two each year to boost cultural exchanges, while the two have cooperated in various fields to meet worldwide challenges such as global warming," Chen said
The EU and China have developed a comprehensive cooperation in international affairs, defense, cyber security and other aspects, said Carmen Cano de Lasala, Minister Counselor of the Delegation of the European Union to China, "In a multi-polarized world, the EU and China should work together to cope with common challenges," she said during the opening ceremony.
