Over the Reality is not a contemporary art project in the common sense. It is staged in Project Lab, a two-floor space hidden in Sanlitun, one of Beijing's most crowded shopping areas. The displayed works enable viewers to take a break from intensive shopping and reach out to the forefront of contemporary art.
Three groups of artworks are being shown in turn at Over the Reality, offering a glimpse of the minds of vanguard artists in their 20s and early 30s. Each group involves three artists who work with different mediums.
The first group, on display until Aug 12, includes Game Over, a series of prints of South Korean artist Wen Juongguo, playful mechanical installations by Wan Duoyun and two videos, Poem and Song of Joy by multimedia artist Tian Xiaolei.
People who'd like to have a surrealist experience of art can visit Project Lab located in the northern compound of Tai Koo Li.
