Several high-quality and rarely seen paintings by ink masters will go under the hammer in a Beijing sale in November.

The night sale of classical Chinese paintings by China Guardian Auctions, known as the Grand View sale, normally presents heavyweight lots of its autumn auction and hence is widely seen as a barometer of the category's market performance.

The upcoming sale will feature two works by Pan Tianshou — Pine Tree and Morning Glow. The former was inspired by a poem of Mao Zedong and the latter is representative of Pan's interpretation of traditional ink art.

Another highlight is Thousands of Hills in A Crimsoned View by Li Keran. Li created seven pieces together under the same theme.

Fu Baoshi's Duke Zhuang of Zheng Seeing His Mother will also be auctioned. The piece has seldom been seen on the market and a draft of the work is at the Nanjing Museum.
