Chinese artist Hong Ling will tour his retrospective exhibition in Beijing, London and Dublin. The 60-year-old will converse with viewers about his understanding of cultural tradition and nature, through his most famous landscape-themed oil paintings at a show titled Beauty of the Nature.

A native of Beijing, Hong left the capital city in the 1990s. He led a self-cultivating, almost reclusive life at the foot of Huangshan Mountains in Anhui province for more than two decades.

Every day he immersed himself in tranquility and amid the thick mist, he felt closely connected with nature and the environment of Chinese ancient scholar-painters. He thus has created on canvas many landscapes that embrace the temperament of traditional Chinese paintings by using the weight of oil paints.

The touring exhibition will first come to the National Art Museum of China in December. Then it will travel to the museum of School of Africa and Oriental Studies, University of London in July 2016. The final stop is the Chester Beatty Library, on the grounds of Dublin Castle, starting next October.
