Popular military singer Han Hong issued a microblog post on Sunday to apologize for driving an unlicensed Land Rover bearing the vehicle registration plate of another car, reports the Beijing News.

Han Hong posted an apology letter, along with a receipt from her 5000 yuan ($816) fine, on the microblogging site Sino Weibo on Sunday.

In the letter, Han said "I already know I was wrong and I feel deeply ashamed... When driving a car, it's the finer details that can determine life and death. Thanks to the timely supervision of the public, I was prevented from making a grave error". She also noted that "People suffer due to petty tricks every now and then, and I am no exception."

She admitted that she used a license plate belonging to a different car of her own because she had not received one for the one that she was driving on Saturday through Beijing's vehicle registration lottery system.

Traffic police stopped a Land Rover vehicle that was suspected of using the license plate of another car during a routine inspection on Saturday in Beijing. Driver Han Hong identified herself and was taken to the police station; she was later fined 5000 yuan for car license plate misappropriation.
