The Ugly Duckling in Beijing
Date: June 12-14 - 7:30 pm
Venue: Haidian Theater
Price: 100-760 yuan
Ian and Eleanor Carney founded Lightwire Theater and, in conjunction with Corbian Visual Arts and Dance, began pre-production on their project, The Ugly Duckling and The Tortoise and the Hare in January 2011, adapting two classic animal tales from Andersen's fairy tales and Aesop's fables through Corbian's signature electroluminescence stage puppetry. Following in the footsteps of the successful production Darwin the Dinosaur-a beloved production by the same two companies that toured extensively in the USA and Europe, The Ugly Duckling has been touring nationwide in the US since the beginning of 2012, bringing their use of cutting-edge technology, moving sculpture and dance together to create another unforgettable theatrical experience.
