After more than nine decades of a strong, constant business presence in the global metal press industry, Aida Engineering - based in Japan - is now the world's second-largest press developer, manufacturer and vendor, serving the home appliances, electronics and auto industries which are its main fuel for growth.

"In the automotive market alone, luxury as well as compact carmakers are currently expanding," says Eiji Takei, Aida's director of the board and senior executive officer.

"Demand for cars in China, which is today's largest auto making country in the world, is growing tremendously."

"Hybrid cars are the future of the auto industry," he states. "Introduction to this new technology has been slow up to now, but it will definitely be the next trend and a growing opportunity for our business."

Aida Engineering's capacity to grow and provide for the demands of its clients is clear.

It was awarded with the 2011 "Cho" Monodzukuri Innovative Parts and Components Award in the machinery components category for its "High-Capacity, Low-Speed High-Torque Servo" motors. Innovation like this allows the company to keep its competitive edge.

Aida Engineering's relationship with China continues to grow stronger, especially with the opening of its fourth plant in China in Nantong, Jiangsu province. This will allow Aida to meet escalating demand in the Chinese auto industry. Full operations at the new plant, where it has installed large press machines, started in July 2011.

Back in Japan, the company's third-generation president Kimikazu Aida affirms that China's market is evolving to a stage of full automation. The time for Aida to bring in its fully automated machines into China seems propitious, beginning with the Nantong plant. Aida's pioneering work in automation has made possible a more productive, energy-efficient and safer manufacturing environment.

This year Aida Engineering is one step closer to its goal of contributing fully to China's growth, as well as further strengthening its strong ties with the country through shared systems and technology.
