San Francisco: Street fest

Marchers do a "dragon dance" through San Francisco's financial district on Feb 23 as part of the citywide celebration of the Lunar New Year. The parade, a local tradition that dates back to the first wave of Chinese immigration to California in the mid-19th century, capped a nearly monthlong Chinese New Year festival that featured dancing, a children's basketball tournament, the Miss Chinatown USA pageant and races for runners.
