Kids should learn more

Comment on "Make FQ part of school syllabus" (China Daily, April 3)

My first reaction to the news was shock. But after thinking it over, I have to say I agree that our children need to be educated early about the brutal world outside their schools, about money and its mythical value.

Children begin learning how to use computers in primary school, but not how to deal with the cyber world. Cyberspace is very complicated; it's just like a jungle inhabited by pirates and robbers. Children should learn to deal with the complicated situations that could arise in cyberspace. They also should learn how to identify the tricks and traps to stay out of trouble.

It is important that elders teach the children how to cope with the real world, not just how to manage money. It is not enough only to teach children about finance and cultivate their "financial quotient".

Fight jointly against H7N9

Comment on "China confirms 21 cases of H7N9 infection" (China Daily, April 4)

The spread of the new strain of bird flue is worrying news. Ten years ago China suffered a lot because of SARS, and nobody wants that to be repeated.

Thankfully, the authorities are releasing relevant information on H7N9 infection timely and have taken immediate measures to ensure people's safety. Every individual should be aware of the threat of a bird flu epidemic and take necessary precautions against it.
