Xi praisesmodel workers
President Xi Jinping paid tribute on Sunday to outstanding workers, calling for hard work to realize national revival. He was speaking at a meeting with winners of the Model Workers title, ahead of International Workers' Day on May 1. He said he expects the working class to set an example in realizing the country's collective dream of national revival. Xi also pledged to protect the rights and interests of workers, and ensure social justice for them.
New plates for army vehicles
The People's Liberation Army and armed police forces on Sunday moved to replace military vehicles' license plates with new ones, the PLA Daily reported. The military will adopt new vehicle plates starting on Wednesday. The move is to crack down on counterfeit military vehicle plates and root out loopholes in military vehicle management, according to the transportation section of the PLA General Logistics Department.

Longer holiday wanted: poll
More than 70 percent of people polled in a recent survey said they would like the May Day holiday to last a week. The three-day holiday, which was adopted in 2008, is not long enough for traveling, and sometimes people have to work seven days in a row in order to take three days off, the survey, conducted by Horizon Research Consultancy Group, showed.
