The number of registered nurses in China had reached 2.5 million by the end of last year, accounting for 19.2 percent of the world's total number, Li Bin, head of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, said on Wednesday at a conference to mark International Nurses Day, which falls on May 12 every year.
