Tuesday marks the 64th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
Across North America, Chinese embassies and consulates have staged a variety of celebrations, hosting Chinese nationals, Chinese Americans, Chinese Canadians, and many Americans who are friends of China to join in the festivities.
Some American cities such as San Francisco have put on their own local activities to add their cheer to the celebration.
