1. Terracotta Warriors After a reception at Xi'an Xianyang International Airport on Thursday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits the Terracotta Warriors. "I am deeply impressed by the extraordinary care with which this precious heritage has been preserved," Modi wrote in a visitors book at the historic site. |
2. Daxingshan Temple Modi talks with Kuan Xu, the Buddhist abbot of Daxingshan Temple in Xi'an, Shaanxi province. Monks from ancient India used to translate the Buddhist scriptures and promote Buddhist teachings in the temple during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907). |
3. Welcoming ceremony Xi'an dignitaries lead Modi toward the ancient city walls in a procession modeled after Tang Dynasty imperial ceremonies. Xi'an was the capital of China under the Tang emperors. |
