Yanqing Science Park, an integrated unit of the 32nd IASP Annual World Conference on Science Parks and Areas of Innovation, welcomed more than 100 IASP representatives from over 20 countries including the United States, France, Brazil and Russia on Monday.
As part of the "one area and 16 sub-parks" of Zhongguancun Science Park, Yanqing park has played a key role in the development of several industries, with a strong focus on fostering innovation and incubating small and medium-sized enterprises, along with several special talent zones.
Qi Zenghua, deputy executive director of the administrative committee of Yanqing Science Park, delivered a keynote speech at the Zhongguancun Yanqing Sub-park Promotion Session held at the Great Wall Museum.
"Yanqing has cooperated with China Construction Bank Yanqing Branch to establish government risk compensation funds, signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with the branch office and acquired a 2 billion yuan ($314 million) credit line. The money will be used to support the development of the park and tenant enterprises, ease operating pressures ... and support the financing needs of tenant enterprises," Qi said.
With a favorable ecological environment, abundant natural resources and convenient transportation, Yanqing has held a series of international exhibitions and large-scale sports events like the 2014 International Grape Conference, 2015 World Potato Congress, Beijing International Cycling Event, and Beijing International Polo Open Tournament.
"We are currently preparing for the 2019 International Horticulture Exposition and the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, which will substantially improve Yanqing's international visibility, magnify the local brand effect, push for the gathering of high-end elements like gardening design, creative services, sports and leisure, as well as the demonstration and application of relevant green technologies and products." Qi said.
Reputed as the innovation center at the foot of the Badaling Great Wall, Yanqing park was established in 2012 with a planned area of 4.91 square kilometers. With an aim to realize its strategic position as a national technology center, it plans to upgrade its green industrial chains and make innovation breakthroughs through high-end industrial clustering. It is striving for a three-pronged development of modern technology, high-end services and ecological civilization.
During the site tour, visitors from home and abroad took a close look at the New Energy Incubator Area by visiting the Smart Grid Demonstration Center, China's first micro grid demonstration center, Wind-solar Hybrid Power Generation System and the Electric Vehicle Charging System.
