This language-learning app was Apple's 2013 App of the Year and its popularity continues to grow. It offers six languages — Spanish, French, German, Italian, English and Portuguese. The process of learning is like playing a game. It uses pictures, your smartphone's microphone and video clips to help you learn words, recite them and write them out. And it is completely free, without the annoying ads or hidden charges.
