The annual “two sessions” of the National People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference will be held in March. More important than personnel changes are the real challenges confronting China, says an article in the China Business News. Excerpt:
According to a media survey, the most pressing problems concerning common people are social security, corruption and income distribution in 2013.
Other issues include social governance, medical care reform, agricultural issues, commodity prices, food safety, environmental protection and housing price control.
Most of these problems are not new. Yet this time, the new leadership of the Communist Party of China has left the people with a new impression that they will address these problems with concrete actions. For example, the new leaders vow to improve working efficiency and styles and save costs in eating and transportation.
Chinese people know these problems are complicated and have accumulated over a long period of time. They will have patience with the new government as long as it works toward finding solutions to these problems.
That the new Party chief Xi Jinping pledges to construct a beautiful China and realize the great dream of the renewal of the Chinese nation should be regarded as a promise of the new government. The two important conferences are expected to draft up blueprints to make the dream come true for each Chinese citizen.
