China's new leaders must support their promises with concrete action, says an article in China Business News. Excerpts:
Xi Jinping and other state leaders have been elected to the conference of the National People's Congress, China's legislators. This is a historic time for China, the country is entering a new period.
Xi's inaugural speech in November when he was elected general secretary of the Communist Party of China shows he is fully aware of the opportunities and challenges ahead for today's China. People also feel he has a strong desire to lead the nation into a better future.
Now, he needs to demonstrate more wisdom, courage and forgiveness to take full advantage of the country's opportunities and solve its problems.
This is not only his responsibility as a state leader, but also a requirement of the people. Xi will carry on Deng Xiaoping's pragmatism and deepen China's reform and opening-up in various fields. But he must also solve the problems of social equality and corruption in the process.
If he can, as he has said, establish a system to successfully deal with the corruption issues in the Chinese government, it will be his great contribution to the country.
Urbanization and domestic consumption will provide his government with great potential to realize fast economic growth for another 10 years, if the new government can properly solve the challenges.
