China's e-commerce sector is growing at about 40 percent per year and now accounts for 7 percent of the total volume of retail sales. But the problems of online fraud, faulty products and delayed deliveries are obvious and will evolve into obstacles for the development of the industry if not tackled. It's necessary and urgent for China to pass laws to regulate the development of a prosperous e-commerce sector, says an article in the Guangzhou Daily. Excerpts:

China's e-commerce sector has reached a turning point and all participants in the market have the responsibility to contribute to the construction of a well-regulated business environment.

Making laws to boost e-commerce regulations can promote the healthy, steady and orderly development of this promising market.

The business administration and quality inspection authorities should strengthen their administration, supervision and build a transparent and fair market order. The consumers should also have effective means to defend their legal rights.

As the Chinese government attaches great importance to domestic consumption, the authorities should implement favorable tax policies for the e-commerce sector and create a better environment for domestic consumers.
