BRICS nations are cooperating in trying to bring the views of developing countries to the world in pushing for international relations to evolve in a more rational and balanced way, according to an article in People's Daily.

Here are excerpts:

Leaders from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa will have their fifth meeting in South Africa soon. These meetings, launched in Yekaterinburg, Russia, in 2009, are meaningful not only to the five countries but the world.

This BRICS cooperation complies with overall trends in economic globalization and democratization of international relations. The international community seldom hears the voices of developing countries. BRICS is trying its best to make the silent majority heard around the world.

BRICS members are all in important stages of economic and social development and are confronted with similar problems and challenges. Seeking mutual beneficial cooperation and realizing common development are the common objectives of these countries.

The different conditions in BRICS countries, and their strengths in various fields, make them highly compatible in their cooperation. Industrialization and urbanization in these countries provide plenty of room for them to deepen their cooperation.

The West has never stopped playing down BRICS cooperation, because the member states demonstrate a strong will and ability to pursue independent prosperity without yielding to the West.

BRICS members should value their consensus to pursue independent development, and continue to deepen cooperation in fighting for more rights for developing countries.
