The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection claims it will further strengthen governing and supervision of state functionaries whose spouses and children have moved overseas, followed by local discipline inspection departments. It is time such targeted control and supervision is applied to "naked officials", says an article in People's Daily. Excerpts:

"Naked officials" are those whose family members have all gone abroad. In fact, any individual has the right to migrate to another place, officials' families included. But it is a consensus of the modern administrative system and the basis of special supervision over "naked officials" to make demands on state functionaries' political loyalty.

Objectively speaking, "naked officials" are prone to the lure of corruption. It is more possible for them to transfer ill-gotten gains, and a plane ticket and passport could help them be free from worries when their unlawful acts are exposed. From this perspective, it is important to stop those corrupt "naked officials" from escaping unpunished.

What is more terrible are the "underground naked officials", of whom the discipline watchdogs have little knowledge and supervision. Therefore, the first mission to supervise "naked officials" is to figure out who they are by sorting out reported information and accurate fact checking. After that, targeted supervision and moderate control could effectively prevent them from fleeing abroad.

It is the consistent and firm resolve of the central government to further combat corruption. Supervision over "naked officials" is a breakthrough point in the fight against corruption and only by further enhancing public trust and informant resources could battles of more difficulty be won.
