So-called naked officials — those whose spouses and children have all moved overseas — and who send money abroad illegally are not that difficult to find and depose. As long as government disciplinary supervisors and judicial organs are determined to genuinely solve this issue, no "naked officials" will remain, according to a People's Daily article.

Here is an excerpt:

The disciplinary watchdogs of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China said governments at various levels should strengthen supervision and administration of "naked officials".

All citizens have a legal right to emigrate. But civil servants' loyalty is an important indicator of the modernity and stability of a country's system of government. All countries use special measures to monitor "naked officials".

Many of these officials take advantage of their rights to send money abroad illegally, often fleeing when they are exposed.

If the central government does not deal with these officials, an increasing number will remain. The negative effect is obvious. Those that escape are clear evidence that even civil servants do not have confidence with governance.

It is very easy to identify such officials. The government should take more concrete action in dealing with this issue.
