Some recent violent incidents, like the blast triggered by a wheelchair-bound man at Beijing airport, have left the public worried. Some people say the assailants were exacting revenge on society, but they should know that crime has no place in society, says an article in China Youth Daily. Excerpts:

The recent violent incidents have sparked an online debate, with some netizens saying they are the result of the government's failure to redress people's grievances. Some have even sympathized with the people involved in such incidents.

But it is irrational to rush to a conclusion before the results of official investigations are known. In fact, some crimes have nothing to do with anger against society. Police investigations show some of those involved in such incidents were suffering from mental disorders, instead of being persecuted or denied justice.

Some incidents are still under investigation and, hence, the motives of the perpetrators are not known. Linking all such incidents with denial of rights or justice will only aggravate people's fears and could encourage more people to commit such crimes.

Even those out to exact revenge on society should know that it is innocent people who pay the price of violence.
