KAZAN, Russia - Chinese shooters won three out of eight gold medals up for grabs at the Kazan Universiade on Monday.

Li Peijing, Ma Hong and Yu Dan joined hands to win gold medal in women's 50m rifle 3 positions team title and Ma also won the individual title in the event, with teammate Li bagging a bronze medal.

"I'm not very satisfied with their performance although the shooters won the titles, because they should have staged a much better result," said Gao Jing, coach of the Chinese team.

In the men's 50m rifle prone competition, China's Kang Hongwei, Cao Yifei and Lan Xing withstood a strong challenge from shooters of Poland and stayed cool en route to the gold medal victory.

Kang, who ranked first in the qualifications in the men's 50m rifle prone individual competition, was underperforming in the opening rounds of shots in the final but still tried to give scare to home-favored Sergey Kamenskiy from Russia. Cheered by noisy audience, Kamenskiy claimed the gold medal while Kang had to settle for a silver.

In men's 25m rapid fire pistol individual event, China's Ding Feng, who ranked second in the qualification, was third in the final.
