DALIAN, northeast China - Peng Shuai made it four golds out of four at the Chinese National Games again when she made short work of her Tianjin teammate Duan Yingying to win the women's singles tennis title here on Tuesday.

Peng, who has successfully defended her titles in the team, doubles and mixed doubles events, seemed to be in a different league in the singles final against Duan, although she was exhausted after having played at least two matches per day over the past week.

"I feel I've been pushed to my limit since the mixed doubles semifinals, but finally I went through," said the 27-year-old Peng, who claimed the Wimbledon women's doubles title earlier this month.

"The National Games are important to me, as they are held every four years. I don't know whether I could play at the next National Games four years later as I would be 31 years old. But I do hope I can keep on playing until then."

Peng, who was awarded as the top seed in the women's singles after Grand Slam winner Li Na pulled out of the quadrennial event, was hardly tested by Duan in the opening set, using two breaks to draw first blood at 6-3.

At the start of the second set, Duan, three years Peng's junior, revived some of her sizzling forehands but Peng answered quickly and won at 6-2.

After the National Games, Peng is scheduled to play warmup events in Canada to prepare for the US Open which starts on Aug 26.
