INCHEON - China eased past India 3-0 to advance to the semifinal of the Asian Games women's volleyball tournament here on Saturday.
China will take on Thailand, which claimed a 3-0 victory over Kazakhstan in another quarterfinal, on September 30.
The match against India was more like a warmup to better prepare the players for the remaining games, China coach Xu Jiande said.
"Despite some technical errors on the Chinese side, the results of the match turned out to be satisfactory. Our players used certain tactics during their attack," Xu commented.
According to the coach, the Chinese team used the match mainly to adjust their methods of serving and receiving the ball, as well as the deployment of players.
"We expected to find out in today's match whether some of our new tactics were effective. The match helped us a lot as the Indian team did create some difficulties especially with their defense," Wang Qian of China said.
