A deadly shooting occurred slightly after 9:00 AM on Friday August 24 near the Empire State Building in Manhattan. The gunman, identified as 58-year-old Jeffrey Johnson, used to work in an import company across the street from the Empire State Building and was let go about a year ago. The New York shooting follows gun massacres in a Colorado movie theater in July and a Sikh temple in Wisconsin.
