Golden ginkgo lightens Beijing up

Luxury hotel operator InterContinental Hotel Groups (IHG) debuted the urban resort concept in Southwest China as it launched the InterContinental Kunming in August, the first internationally branded 5-star hotel in Kunming, capital city of Yunnan province.

Nestled in the center of the National Tourism Area of Dianchi, the new hotel is close to downtown as well as a number of scenic venues such as West Mountain and Yunnan Ethnic Village.

As the first urban resort in Southwest China, the hotel fuses the group’s signature luxury offerings with the facilities and services of a premier city-based retreat.

The hotel’s design is based on the theme of “Eternally Beautiful Butterfly,” resembling a colorful butterfly with outstretched wings. It offers 541 elegant guestrooms, each uniquely designed to create a modern, yet natural atmosphere highlighted by traditional Yunnan characteristics. Sitting on the balcony, guests may enjoy views of beautiful Dianchi Lake or the hotel’s extensive gardens.

The hotel features versatile meeting facilities for large and medium conferences. Its 1,600-square-meter Yunnan Grand Ballroom can accommodate up to 1,500 guests, and eight meeting rooms offer flexible space to satisfy a broad range of meeting requirements. On top of all that, its dazzling outdoor gardens are an ideal choice for romantic weddings.

The hotel’s five Food & Beverage outlets, The Market, Shang Tao, Chambord French, Butterfly Bar and Lotus Lounge, offer a diverse range of dining experiences. From grilled seafood, fine French dining, to the Chinese restaurant Shang Tao, featuring Cantonese-style cuisine and traditional local flavors, guests have a variety of dining venues to choose from.
